Year F – Thompson Class
Welcome to Thompson Page!
This is where children join the ‘Stanwick Primary’ family. We are lucky enough to have a classroom and the ‘barn’, playground as well as the wonderful playing fields. In our colourful learning environment we have plenty to access, explore and learn with- writing area, maths station, role-play, independent snack, water, sand, investigation station, physical corner and’ Loose parts’ workshop, to name but a few. A highlight for Thompson class is our weekly ‘welly walks’, where we can explore the village, surrounding areas and be part of the village community.
Learning in Thompson class is practical, explorative and fun……and sometimes messy! We come together as a class on the carpet, we have time to talk, discuss, sing, pretend and we work in our books. All our practical learning is recorded through observations, that are sent home (Interactive Learning Diary) for everyone at home to see. There are weekly ‘book share’ sessions for parents to come in and read as well as regular events through the year, where family can come and be part of the fun.
We are lucky enough to have Year 6 buddies, where Thompson class have the older children as mentors. We spend school topic days with them, we read together, they help on our ‘bring your wheeled vehicle to school day’ and become part of our extended Thompson family.
